While its importance as an aspect of garden design is often neglected, fencing is an integral part of both the appearance and useability of your garden. Garden fencing will likely differ between the front and back of properties, with higher and more tough wood fencing generally being placed in the rear garden, while the front of the home generally employs smaller sized and more ornamental fencing. Fencing for the front of the home tends to feature a low height and large spaces between the wooden slats. It is also often painted to improve its ornamental effect. Fencing in the back garden is typically used for privacy and to maintain the boundaries of a garden, as well as to keep domestic pets or other small animals or wildlife either in or out. Due to this, these kinds of fences are approximately 6 feet high and use wooden slats with no spaces in between. Because of the added height, these fences typically have concrete footings laid in between each panel to offer stability which will help prevent the fence from blowing over or being broken in bad weather. Garden fencing panels are generally made of wood. The posts in between the panels are made from either timber, stone, or concrete. Recently, fence panels have started to be made from heavily recycled and sustainable composite materials such as recycled bamboo.

The London Borough of Lewisham is a London borough in south-east London, England and forms part of Inner London. The borough wasformed in 1965, by the London Government Act 1963, as an amalgamation of the former location of the Metropolitan Borough of Lewisham and also the Metropolitan Borough of Deptford, which had been established in 1900 as divisions of the County of London. However, minor boundary modifications have occurred since its creation. One of the most substantial amendments were made in 1996, when the former area of the Royal Docks in Deptford was transferred from the London Borough of Greenwich. The local authority is Lewisham London Borough Council and it is based in Catford. The borough covers an overall area of about 13.57 square miles. It’s surrounded by the Royal Borough of Greenwich to the east, the London Borough of Bromley towards the south plus the London Borough of Southwark towards the west. The River Thames forms a short section of northern boundary with the Isle of Dogs in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Deptford Creek, Pool River, River Quaggy and River Ravensbourne pass through the borough. In line with population estimates made during 2014, Lewisham is a borough with roughly 291933 permanent residents. Around 43 per cent of homes are owner-occupiers. The Prime Meridian passes through Lewisham. Blackheath, Goldsmiths, University of London and Millwall F.C. are positioned within the borough.
