While its importance as an element of garden design is sometimes overlooked, fencing is a key part of both the aesthetics and useability of your garden. Garden fencing tends to differ between the front and rear of properties, with higher and more strong wooden fencing usually being placed in the rear garden, while the front of the home often features more compact and more decorative fencing. Fencing for the front of the home tends to have a low height and large spaces between the wooden slats. Also, it is often painted to enhance its ornamental effect. Fencing in the back garden is frequently used for privacy and to maintain the borders of a garden, as well as to keep household pets or other small animals or wildlife either in or out. For this reason, these types of fences are approximately 6 feet high and use wooden slats with no spaces in between. Due to the increased height, these fences typically have concrete footings laid between each panel to offer stability and stopping the fence from blowing over or being damaged in poor weather. Garden fencing panels are generally made of wood. The posts in between the panels are made from either timber, stone, or concrete. More recently, fence panels have started to be made from heavily recycled and sustainable composite materials such as recycled bamboo.

The London Borough of Hillingdon is the westernmost borough in Greater London. It was formed in 1965 from the districts of Hayes and Harlington, Ruislip-Northwood, Uxbridge, and Yiewsley and West Drayton in the historic county of Middlesex. The borough covers a total area of 44.67 square miles. This makes it the second largest of the 32 London boroughs by area. For administrative purposes, the borough is split into South and North Hillingdon. The south of the borough’s former powerful connection with industry has diminished since the 1980s to be replaced by a substantially residential suburban population; the north continues to be a consistently residential suburban area. The borough’s residential areas expanded with the extension of the Metropolitan Railway from Harrow on the Hill to Uxbridge within the early 20th century along with the gradual establishment of stops along the line, becoming known as ‘Metro-land’. The population increased from 2001 to 2011 by 11.5 per cent, which is 4.4 per cent above the England and Wales mean of 7.1 per cent, making the borough a part of the fastest population-growth area. Within this time, the amount of households also increased by 3.3 per cent, with an average of 2.7 individuals per household. The borough maintains over 200 green spaces, totalling around 1800 acres. As lots of the area is inside the Metropolitan Green Belt it was, in 2008, one of the least densely populated of all the London boroughs; open spaces range in size from the Colne Valley Regional Park to smaller gardens which include Lake Farm Country Park. For all of your property upgrades, be sure that you employ trustworthy professionals in Hillingdon to ensure that you get the top quality.
