While its significance as an element of garden design is sometimes overlooked, fencing is an integral part of both the appearance and useability of your garden. Garden fencing will likely differ between the front and back of properties, with taller and more substantial wooden fencing commonly being used in the rear garden, while the front of the home often employs more compact and more ornamental fencing. Fencing for the front of the home tends to have a low height and large spaces between the wooden slats. Additionally, it is often coloured to improve its decorative effect. Fencing in the back garden is frequently used for privacy and to preserve the boundaries of a garden, as well as to keep domestic pets or other small animals or wildlife either in or out. Because of this, these sorts of fences are about 6 feet high and use wooden slats without spaces in between. Due to the extra height, these fences typically have concrete footings laid in between each section to provide stability preventing the fence from blowing over or being destroyed in poor weather. Garden fencing panels are generally constructed from wood. The posts in between the sections are made from either timber, stone, or concrete. More recently, fence panels have started to be constructed from heavily recycled and eco friendly composite materials such as recycled bamboo.

The London Borough of Hounslow is a London borough in west London, England, forming a part of Outer London. The borough was created in 1965, under the London Government Act 1963, by the merger of the area of the former Brentford and Chiswick Urban District, Feltham Urban District as well as the Heston and Isleworth Urban District of Middlesex. It borders the boroughs of Richmond upon Thames, Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing and Hillingdon, plus the Surrey borough of Spelthorne. The local authority is Hounslow London Borough Council. Hounslow grew quickly in the latter half of the twentieth century as a result of other travel, a connection to the largest of London’s airports since the 1940s, Heathrow Airport which is inside the Hounslow post town. The Great West Road, which crosses the borough from Chiswick to Heathrow, at one time served nationally and globally well-known manufacturers such as Firestone, Gillette and Coty. Consequently, the borough became called the ‘Golden Mile’. A couple of of these factory sites remain, for example Gillette Corner, plus the Great West Road is still home to numerous prestigious names, supplying them with quick non-motorway access between Slough, London Heathrow Airport and Central London. Other notable landmarks include Osterley Park, Gunnersbury Park, Syon House, the London Museum of Water and Steam, and Chiswick House.
