Fencing

While its significance as an element of garden design is often overlooked, fencing is an integral part of both the appearance and usefulness of your garden. Garden fencing tends to differ between the front and back of properties, with taller and more substantial wood fencing commonly being used in the rear garden, while the front of the home generally makes use of smaller sized and more ornamental fencing. Fencing for the front of the home tends to have a low height and large gaps between the wooden slats. Also, it is often painted to enhance its decorative effect. Fencing in the back garden is commonly used for privacy and to preserve the borders of a garden, as well as to keep domestic pets or other small animals or wildlife either in or out. Because of this, these styles of fences are around 6 feet high and use wooden slats without gaps in between. Because of the additional height, these fences typically have concrete footings laid between each section to offer strength preventing the fence from blowing over or being destroyed in poor weather. Garden fencing panels are generally made of wood. The posts in between the panels are produced from either wood, stone, or concrete. Recently, fence panels have started to be manufactured from heavily recycled and sustainable composite materials such as recycled bamboo.
