Fencing

Although its importance as an element of garden design is sometimes neglected, fencing is an essential part of both the aesthetics and practicality of your garden. Garden fencing tends to differ between the front and back of properties, with higher and more tough wooden fencing typically being placed in the rear garden, while the front of the house usually makes use of smaller and more ornamental fencing. Fencing for the front of the home tends to have a low height and large gaps between the wooden slats. Additionally, it is often painted to enhance its decorative effect. Fencing in the back garden is commonly used for privacy and to preserve the boundaries of a garden, as well as to keep domestic pets or other small animals or wildlife either in or out. Due to this, these varieties of fences are roughly 6 feet high and use wooden slats with no gaps in between. Due to the additional height, these fences often have concrete footings laid between each panel to offer strength and stop the fence from blowing over or being broken in poor weather. Garden fencing panels are generally made of wood. The posts in between the sections are made from either timber, stone, or concrete. Recently, fence panels have started to be made from heavily recycled and eco friendly composite materials such as recycled bamboo.
