Paving is a common way of designing bespoke and attractive spaces in your garden. Strong and durable, paving offers an ideal way of providing spaces for dining or socialising, or it can simply be used as a low maintenance substitute for grass. Paving is also ideal for providing access to different areas of your garden, and is also perfect for use if you’ve got a gated side alley with your home, or for creating a path across your lawn. Garden paving is available in a number of designs and types of stone. Whether you decide on marble, granite, limestone, slate, or sandstone, there is bound to be a type of stone to fit your specifications. Garden paving can be found in vitrified tile, which is a kind of very durable porcelain tile suited to outdoor use. Whenever choosing your paving options, make sure that you speak to a number of companies and manufacturers to make sure that you select the perfect style for your garden. Also consider adding a differing style for detailing or edging, and choose a pattern that accentuates your space and attracts focus on any features you want to showcase. Laying paving is a relatively easy job, but it will require a foundation to be laid that is level and capable of supporting the weight of the paving as well as of any furniture you would like to have on top of the paving.

Smaller towns and villages around Hexham include Corbridge, Riding Mill, Stocksfield and Wylam towards the east, Acomb and Bellingham to the north, Allendale towards the south and Haydon Bridge, Bardon Mill and Haltwhistle to the west. Newcastle upon Tyne is approximately 25 miles (40 kilometres) to the east. With mention to the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent population of approximately 11829. Hexham’s architectural landscape is headed by Hexham Abbey. The existing church predominately dates from about 1170, constructed in the Early English Gothic style of architecture. The choir, north and south transepts and the cloisters, where canons studied and meditated, date from this time frame. The east end was renovated in 1860. The abbey stands at the west end of the market place, which is the home of the Shambles, a Grade II covered market built in 1766 by Sir Walter Blackett. At the east end of the market place is the Moot Hall, a 15th-century gatehouse that was part of the town’s defences. The Moot Hall is a Grade I listed building, and was put to use as a court house before 1838. The Moot Hall now houses the Council offices of the Museums Department and the ground floor is an art gallery available to hire. Hexham won the Town award in the 2005 Britain in Bloom awards. In the same year Hexham was additionally named ‘England’s Favourite Market Town’ by the publication ‘Country Life’.
