Fencing

While its significance as an element of garden design is sometimes neglected, fencing is a vital part of both the aesthetics and usefulness of your garden. Garden fencing will likely differ between the front and back of properties, with higher and more tough wooden fencing frequently being installed in the rear garden, while the front of the property typically makes use of smaller and more attractive fencing. Fencing for the front of the home tends to feature a low height and large gaps between the wooden slats. It is also often coloured to improve its ornamental effect. Fencing in the back garden is frequently used for privacy and to maintain the boundaries of a garden, as well as to keep domestic pets or other small animals or wildlife either in or out. For this reason, these types of fences are about 6 feet high and use wooden slats with no spaces in between. Due to the extra height, these fences commonly have concrete footings laid between each panel to offer security preventing the fence from blowing over or being destroyed in bad weather. Garden fencing panels are generally made of wood. The posts in between the panels are manufactured from either wood, stone, or concrete. More recently, fence panels have started to be constructed from heavily recycled and environmentally friendly composite materials such as recycled bamboo.
