Fencing

Although its significance as an aspect of garden design is sometimes disregarded, fencing is a vital part of both the aesthetics and practicality of your garden. Garden fencing will differ between the front and rear of properties, with higher and more sturdy wood fencing typically being used in the rear garden, while the front of the house often employs smaller and more ornamental fencing. Fencing for the front of the home tends to have a low height and large gaps between the wooden slats. Also, it is often painted to enhance its ornamental effect. Fencing in the back garden is generally used for privacy and to maintain the borders of a garden, as well as to keep household pets or other small animals or wildlife either in or out. For this reason, these varieties of fences are roughly 6 feet high and use wooden slats without spaces in between. Due to the additional height, these fences commonly have concrete footings laid in between each section to offer stability preventing the fence from blowing over or being broken in bad weather. Garden fencing panels are generally made of wood. The posts in between the panels are produced from either timber, stone, or concrete. Recently, fence panels have started to be made of heavily recycled and eco friendly composite materials such as recycled bamboo.
