Fencing

Although its significance as an element of garden design is sometimes overlooked, fencing is an essential part of both the aesthetics and usefulness of your garden. Garden fencing will differ between the front and rear of properties, with taller and more solid wooden fencing frequently being used in the rear garden, while the front of the house typically makes use of smaller and more decorative fencing. Fencing for the front of the home tends to have a low height and large gaps between the wooden slats. Additionally, it is often coloured to enhance its decorative effect. Fencing in the back garden is typically used for privacy and to preserve the boundaries of a garden, as well as to keep domestic pets or other small animals or wildlife either in or out. For this reason, these types of fences are approximately 6 feet high and use wooden slats without spaces in between. Because of the extra height, these fences typically have concrete footings laid in between each panel to provide stability and stop the fence from blowing over or being damaged in high winds. Garden fencing sections are generally made of wood. The posts in between the sections are made from either wood, stone, or concrete. Recently, fence panels have started to be made from heavily recycled and eco friendly composite materials such as recycled bamboo.
