Although its importance as an element of garden design is sometimes disregarded, fencing is a vital part of both the appearance and useability of your garden. Garden fencing will likely differ between the front and back of properties, with taller and more strong wooden fencing generally being placed in the rear garden, while the front of the home typically employs more compact and more decorative fencing. Fencing for the front of the home tends to feature a low height and large spaces between the wooden slats. It is also often coloured to enhance its decorative effect. Fencing in the back garden is commonly used for privacy and to protect the borders of a garden, as well as to keep pets or other small animals or wildlife either in or out.
