Patios remain a very widely used method of creating practical outdoor spaces which you can use for socialising, dining, or simply to enhance the appeal of your garden. Patios are constructed from block or slab paving and are available in a huge array of colours, patterns and designs. Patios can be laid in either random course patterns where the pattern is varied, or in repeating patterns which have a consistent effect. Patios are extremely durable and demand almost no maintenance, only occasional cleaning to protect the natural beauty of the stone. Patios are often installed in locations where patio or French doors can open directly out onto them as this creates a smooth transition between the inside and outside spaces.Patios come in a wide variety of colours and types of stone. Consider including a different colour and type of stone to either inlay an elegant design or as edging to emphasise the shape of your patio. It is essential to consider the use of your patio when designing it and measure precisely to ensure that any furniture fits the intended space. Specialist patio and paving companies will be able to design you a patio that perfectly fulfills your preferences and creates an outdoor area that is practical as well as beautiful.

The Royal Burgh of Lauder is a town in the Scottish Borders in the historic county of Berwickshire. On the Southern Upland Way, the burgh lies 27 miles south east from Edinburgh, on the western edge of the Lammermuir Hills. The current population of the town is around 1500, although it is quickly growing as over 100 new homes are being built on the southern side. This means that, at the start of the 21st century, the population is approaching what it was at the start of the 20th century preceding the time period of depopulation over the last 100 years. Lauder is today firmly directed by its distance to Edinburgh as it is now considered to be near enough for people to commute into the capital for work. The bus service to Edinburgh is efficient though irregular. Noteworthy structures in the town today feature the Tolbooth or Town Hall, which predates 1598 when records show it being burnt by a celebration of Homes and Cranstouns led by Lord Home, in a feud in between them and the Lauder family who were at the time sitting on the bench as hereditary baillies. On 18 July 1793, amid a severe and long-lasting thunderstorm, a ‘ball of fire struck the steeple above the Tollbooth, and did considerable damage’. Ongoing contention in Lauder is the town’s development, whether it is needed or preferable, the site of a brand-new primary school and how soon one will be developed, and the area and extent of wind farms on the surrounding hills. Also on the agenda is the contention surrounding the development of a brand-new health centre in the burgh. For all of your home renovations, make certain to find respected professionals in Lauder to make certain of quality.
