Patios remain a very widely used method of creating practical outdoor spaces that you can use for socialising, dining, or just to enhance the appeal of your garden. Patios are constructed from block or slab paving and are available in an enormous array of colours, patterns and designs. Patios can be laid in either random course patterns where the pattern is varied, or in repeating patterns which have a consistent effect. Patios are very hard wearing and need almost no maintenance, only occasional cleaning to protect the natural beauty of the stone. Patios are usually installed in locations where patio or French doors can open directly out onto them as this creates a seamless transition between the inside and outside spaces.
Patios come in a huge array of colours and types of stone. Give some thought to introducing a different colour and style of stone to either inlay an elegant design or as edging to accentuate the shape of your patio. It is essential to consider the use of your patio when planning it and measure accurately to ensure that any furniture fits the intended space. Specialist patio and paving companies can design you a patio that perfectly meets your requirements and creates an outdoor area that is useful as well as beautiful.

Aberdour is a historic village on the south coast of Fife, Scotland. It is sometimes called the Jewel of Fife because of its charming scenery. It had a population of 1633 in the 2001 census. It lies between the bigger towns of Burntisland and Dalgety Bay.
The village’s name comes from the Pictish, which indicates that Aberdour has been populated since the Dark Ages. Until the 19th century when the railway was developed, Aberdour was actually split in two villages. The railway has gained various ‘best kept station’ awards, and the ticket inspectors were known for singing down the carriages. It is a 30-minute train ride to Edinburgh from Aberdour, which increased its reputation with commuters.
In the middle of the village lies Aberdour Castle. It was a small hall house overlooking the Dour Burn in the 13th century. The oldest part of it that is still there is one of the oldest surviving stone castles in mainland Scotland. Near to the castle is St Fillan’s church which is one of the best-preserved medieval parish churches in Scotland.
If you need a new boiler for your home in Aberdour, it’s best to look at a minimum of three quotations from trustworthy companies.
