Fencing

Although its importance as an element of garden design is sometimes disregarded, fencing is an integral part of both the aesthetics and usefulness of your garden. Garden fencing is likely to differ between the front and rear of properties, with taller and more substantial wooden fencing generally being installed in the rear garden, while the front of the home usually utilises smaller and more attractive fencing. Fencing for the front of the home tends to have a low height and large gaps between the wooden slats. Also, it is often coloured to improve its ornamental effect. Fencing in the back garden is commonly used for privacy and to protect the boundaries of a garden, as well as to keep household pets or other small animals or wildlife either in or out. For this reason, these sorts of fences are roughly 6 feet high and use wooden slats without spaces in between. Due to the added height, these fences generally have concrete footings laid in between each panel to offer strength which will help prevent the fence from blowing over or being broken in high winds. Garden fencing sections are generally made of wood. The posts in between the panels are manufactured from either wood, stone, or concrete. More recently, fence panels have started to be made of heavily recycled and eco friendly composite materials such as recycled bamboo.
